The end of August comes to an end and the appointment with the Puegnago Fair is renewed: the now historical festival is ready to return on stage in a deeply renewed dress with the support of the Consorzio Valtènesi from August 26 to 28 for its edition number 41.
The greater involvement of the Consortium aims in fact to a revival aimed at cutting the historic event a major role in the exclusive promotion of local red wines based on the native vine Groppello. In particular, this is the establishment of the new Red of the Year contest dedicated to the memory of Sante Bonomo, former president of the Consortium Valtènesi, who died prematurely last March. The new competition will be reserved only and exclusively to the labels that last May were awarded the qualification of Excellent Wine (minimum score 85/100) at the Polpenazze Wine Fair, home of the official competition for Doc Valtènesi, Garda Classico and Riviera del Garda Classico Recognized by the Ministry for Agricultural Policies: a specialized committee will taste the finalists, among which will be elected the absolute winner to award recognition, an artwork of design of high symbolic value that will pass each year into the hands of the new winner on the wake of the Pompeo Molmenti trophy awarded to the best chiaretto of the year at Italia in Rosa, the rosé scene on stage every June in Moniga.
The heart of the Puegnago event will be Villa Galnica, the seat of the Consorzio Valtènesi where, in the cellar of the villa, a new House of Wine will be opened on the occasion to the public: a great consortium project aiming to equip Valtènesi of an ideal lace to allow traders, winemakers and winelovers to know and taste the entire production of the territory of the Brescia Riviera del Garda.
“With this initiative, the Consortium makes another crucial step in consolidating its role in the territory,” says President Alessandro Luzzago -. Fundamental to the realization of this goal was the collaboration with the municipal government of Puegnago and his mayor Adelio Zeni, who besides giving the Consortium the opportunity to finally endow its own headquarters in a historical and landscaping context of great Beauty, has now made it possible to create within Villa Galnica a structure destined to become a reference point for both producers and consumers, not only for denomination wines but also for Dop oil thanks to the collaboration with Aipol ” .
During the Fair Villa Galnica will also host “Groppello & Casaliva Experience”, three days dedicated to the two native cultivars of Valtènesi (wine and oil) with tasting bar (6.30-10 pm,, entrance 5 euros including sack and glass) and two masterclasses by experts Onav and Onao, devoted to the evolution of Valtènesi’s red wines in the last ten years (saturday 26 at 9.30 pm) and monocultivar oils (Sunday 27, 9 pm). Not to forget the Chiaretto, on Saturday 26th from 7.30 pm there is also the Rosé Night, gourmet evening with the producers and restaurateurs of Passione Valtènesi. On Monday 28th at 6pm, the Agriculture Day with the conference “Garda Bresciano and Valsabbia: a project for a common valorization of the territories” with the participation of Gal-Garda Valsabbia and, following, the proclamation of the Red of the Year.
