The first news is a good news: Trivago website has entered Riva del Garda among the ten destinations “top” for New Year 2017. A very good result, with which the Trentino Garda side has reaped the fruits of many years of patient investment on Christmas holidays. The New Year celebrations have always been of a reason of strong appeal on this side of the lake, which for a month is transformed into a kind of suggestive nativity scene calling to visitors and tourists. Christmas 2016 will make no exception: the billboard of events aims to transform the Riviera in a world of lights, colors, smells and even tastes, relying also on the natural beauty of places. The celebrations have already started a few days ago with the Arco Christmas Market, 40 houses filled with handcrafted goodies merged around the main church in the old town, with a significant presence of the Norcia producers, who will offer for sale the specialties of the mid Italian areas affected by the recent terrible earthquake.

Another market not to be missed is the one in Canale di Tenno, one of the Most Beautiful Villages of Italy (November 26). But the heart of the events will pulse in Riva del Garda, where there will be the return of the traditional Santa’s House (2-30 December) and the Academy of the Elves. But there will also be food and wine attractions here thanks to the event “Di gusto in gusto” (December 2 to January 8), a path between local typical products and spunante Trento DOC in a village consisting of 23 houses for gourmands in the old city, where you can taste dishes of local matched precisely with the sparkling Trentino wines

Another novelty will be the “Christmas Tale” (8-11 December), four days devoted to the imagination and to the famous “A Christmas Carol”, represented by Lupus in Fabula in 11 performances always in the center of Riva.

Finally, do not miss the midnight fireworks on the night of December 31, the sixth edition of Hop Party to greet 2016 with electronic music, the traditional dip in the lake at noon on January 1 and the Befana underwater on January 6. And on December 9 on the stage of Riva Palameeting the Royal Ballet of Moscow and the Soloists of the Bolshoi, will perform “The Nutcracker” with music by Tchaikovsky.
