The project “Back to the roots- Alle radici del cibo” has started a few days ago in Desenzano, on Lake Garda: is is a regional exhibition circuit dedicated to feeding in the era of stilts and connected to Expo 2015. The exhibition program  took off on Lake Garda in the museum “G.Rambotti” in Desenzano (Via Anelli 42), with the exhibition “2077 BC Into The Groove … In the wake of the plow.”

The plow will represent in fact the whole point of this initiative, which aims to study issues of prehistoric agriculture, and not only that: among the things to be shown there will be tools related to agriculture found in piles, with sections dedicated to hunting and fishing and a focus dedicated to the “kitchen”, ie all that was once used for food preparation: large containers to store cereals, ceramic vessels and timber to hold the food, pots … all in connection with the central theme of Expo 2015, or the feeding of the Earth.

“Back To The Roots – the roots of food” will involve the archaeological museums of eastern Lombardy that preserve material from the pile-dwelling settlements as Lavagnone (Museum of Desenzano del Garda), Lucone of Polpenazze (Museum of Gavardo), San Sivino (Museum Manerba del Garda), Bande di Cavriana (Museum of Cavriana) and Lagazzi del Vho (Museum of Padena) entered in the transnational serial site UNESCO “Prehistoric Pile Dwellings around the Alps”, in collaboration with the Archaeological Superintendence of Lombardy.

Exhibitions will be joined by educational workshops designed for that purpose. The Museum Rambotti is open to visitors on Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9 am to 1 pm, Thursday and Friday from 3 to 7 pm, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays from 2,30 to 7 pm.
