“It’s the largest acquisition ever of unreleased D’Annunzio works: il certainly will help us change the understanding of a part of his life.” This is the comment made by Giordano Bruno Guerri, president of the Foundation The Italian Vittoriale, about the gesture of Martino Zanetti, collector and owner of the historic brand of coffee Hausbrandt, who donated to the Vittoriale over 3,000 D’Annunzio original documents and unpublished letters, manuscripts and public speeches. Amongst the documents are 232 long and passionate letters written by the poet to his lover Giselda Zucconi, renamed Elda, dated between 1881 and 1882. To the 1936-38 period date back the love letters to another beloved, Evelina Scapinelli Morasso. There’s also the autograph manuscript of “Life of Cola di Rienzo,” that Vittoriale owns in a different drafting. Zanetti, is one of the greatest collectors of things D’Annunzio. Hausbrandt, the historic family business, is one of the brand symbol of Italian coffee in the world: founded in 1892 in Trieste, is now present in the coffee shops of about 70 countries.
