Fruity, perfectly balanced between bitter, spicy and sweet, very high organoleptic content, reinforcing the usual characteristics of fineness, lightness and versatility in matchings: this is the profile of the Garda Dop 2017 oil, recently squeezed in the oil mills at the end of a two-speed vintage.

The first data show an overall decrease of 30%, due to a difficult season marked by hot and drought months as well as by hailstorms at the end of summer in all three sub-areas (Garda Orientale, Bresciana, Trentina). However, the decline in production was fortunately offset by very good quality: high temperatures concentrated the juice inside the olives, bringing yields to 15% against the average of 13% reached last year. Not only that: the olives are in fact arrived at the right degree of ripeness in light advance and in excellent sanitary conditions, thanks to the general efforts of the producers to guarantee a valuable product.

“The harvesting campaign definitely went better than expected – assures Andrea Bertazzi, president of the Consorzio Olio Garda Dop -. The 2017 is a year of discharge, after a 2016 characterized by a boom in production: the decline was expected, but was accentuated by extreme weather factors of the year. But if the denomination oil will certainly be less than last year, quality this year really is not discussed “.
