Gambero Rosso has chosen: there are nine oil mills of Lake Garda that have received the highest award of the Three Leaves in the edition 2016 of the “Oils of Italy” guide, recently presented at Vinitaly.

In pole position the Brescia side of the Lake, which took home five awards: on the podium Monocultivar Casaliva by Gianfranco Comincioli (Puegnago), the Monocultivar Fs17 by La Meridiana (Puegnago), the Monocultivar Selection Casaliva Casa del Tempo Ritrovato ( Toscolano), extra virgin Villa Romana de La Zadruga (always in Toscolano) and Casaliva Bio (organic) by Valerio Giacomini in Gargnano.

In Trentino, the Three Leaves went to the 46th Parallel Monocultivar Casaliva Bio by Frantoio Riva del Garda, to the DOP Garda Trentino of Madonna delle Vittorie and the monocultivar Casaliva Origins of OlioCru, both from Arco. On the Veneto side the award has gone only to Trefort Ca’ Rainene by Paolo Bonomelli (in Torri del Benaco).

There are also many labels that have won the Two Red Leaves, assigned to the types who have obtained a score between 87 and 89/100: the West Lake again stood out with the Classico and Monocultivar Casaliva of La Meridiana, Monocultivar Leccino and Numero Uno by Comincioli, Monocultivar Miniol by La Zadruga, and Passione by the Cooperative La Verità in San Felice del Benaco. In Trentino the Two Leaves went to the 46th Parallel Bio of Frantoio Riva del Garda, to Monocultivar Coratina Emotions and the Lab of OlioCru, and monocultivar Frantoio by Madonna delle Vittorie. For the Veneto side Paolo Bonomelli Ca ‘Rainene still leads the way with Monocultivar Drizzar.
