It has yet to finish, but the 67th edition of the Valtènesi-Garda Classico DOC wine Fair of Polpenazze is already mega: thanks to a fantastic summer weather, the first two days (Friday 27 and Saturday 28) drew an estimated audience in about 30,000 people, representing more or less the same throughout the influx reached by edition of 2015. Boom also for the Court of Assaggi, the space for the comparative tastings of the wines entered, demonstrating how the Fair recalls a wider audience of enthusiasts and wine lovers: Friday and Saturday there were more than 600 six types trays served, for a total of over 2400 glasses of wne.
The bad weather on Sunday morning, May 29, did not spoil the satisfaction with the results, and even the usual ceremonial inauguration that has repeatedly. During the morning the organizers announced the names of the winning labels of the national wine competition Doc Valtènesi-Garda Classico, set up by the Ministry for Agricultural Policies: 38 of the 70 wines presented were awardes with “Excellent” because they have reached a minimum score of 85/100 (you can find the list at bottom of article). There was a real boom for Chiaretti: 21 those awarded with Excellence, which will compete for the trophy Pompeo Molmenti, awarded as part of the ninth edition of Italia in Rosa scheduled in Moniga (Bs) from 10 to 12 June. Cantine Scolari in Raffa di Puegnago and Podere dei Folli in Polpenazze Podere won the special awards of the municipal administration, respectively for best Valtènesi Chiaretto and Valtenesi Doc. The BCC del Garda has instead awarded wineries Sergio Delai and Franzosi (both of Puegnago ) for the best Garda Classico Groppello and Garda Classico Rosso Superiore DOC (the latter Vintage 2012). Fiorenzo Bertoletti is the winner of the 23rd Grand Salami Award.
Today, Monday 30, the final day with the latest round of tastings with the 23 companies present at the fair wine tasting accompanied by traditional spiedo and other typical features of the territory up to the grand finale in the evening with fireworks.
