A chance to enjoy the atmosphere of Spring on Lake Garda in a historical location of great charm, between exposures of curious goodies and a large market of rare plants: these are the ingredients of “Fiori nella Rocca”, the event scheduled from Friday 10 to Sunday 12 in Aprile in the setting of the Rocca visconteo-veneta of Lonato, in the province of Brescia. There are many innovations planned for the 2015 edition, from the opening planned since Friday afternoon to the exposure of eight “artistic tables” signed by Giusy Ferrari Cielo, a famous teacher and International Judge of the Italian Floral Amateurs IIDFA of Sanremo. A small exhibition, called “Stories of tables and flowers”, but intended to emphasize the importance of a table with a taste for the full and complete appreciation of conviviality. For the rest, the event will welcome as always the most important growers and researchers of rare species, including the best-known producers of herbaceous perennials, roses, peonies, aromatic plants, medicinal and horticultural plants, citrus, olive trees and much more. Inside the fortress a corner café and a buffet restaurant will be available. The organization is managed by Garden Club Brescia and Fondazione Ugo Da Como, who conceived this festival eight years ago. There will also be craftsmen who make objects and decorations for the garden. During “Fiori nella Rocca”, you can also visit the ancient village of Lonato through a multi-colored and fragrant route, which leads from the city center up to the house that was inhabited by Senator Ugo Da Como: an extraordinary house-museum consisting of 20 rooms fully furnished, which displays collections of paintings, pottery and porcelain and a library of about 50,000 volumes including important manuscripts and old books. Admission Tickets € 5, children under 12 free, 3 euro supplement for the visit to the house-museum. Opening hours: Friday 2 to 6 pm, Saturday and Sunday, from 9 am to 6 pm.
