Good news for the restocking of Lake Garda: a project “to secure” the biological cycles of the lake trout has won the call “ecological link” of the Cariplo Foundation, getting a loan of 250,000 Euros. The project leader is the municipality of Toscolano whose partners are the Province of Brescia (Fishing Office), the fishers association Aps The Fario and the Comunità Montana Parco Alto Garda. The  goal of the initiative is to improve the ecological connection of two areas, namely the Lake Garda and Alto Garda Bresciano, through the recovery of the Toscolano torrent, which according to the authors of the project has a key role to the biological cycles of trout lake, of course of great value fish. The plan will be structured in two years, ending  31 December 2017. The work will address the realization of naturalistic engineering works to consolidate the banks and create suitable habitat for the fish, over the implementation of interventions in the river bed to drive the dynamic of the river. It will also work to eliminate the discontinuity creating a suitable passage for fish and to adapt to the Toscolano fish hatchery’s activities in restocking Alto Garda.
