The Valtènesi Consortium on Lake Garda has announced a major new challenge from Vinitaly announcing: a “territory” pact between producers to reduce the three existing denominations in the district (Riviera del Garda Bresciano, Garda Classico and Valtènesi) in one disciplinary called Riviera del Garda Classico, in which there will be a more restricted production area called Valtènesi that will represent the quality peak of the production pyramid.

“It is a sort of brand new start for us – said president Alessandro Luzzago during the press conference held at the Verona fair: with him director Alberto Panont and the leaders of Coldiretti Brescia and Lombardy, Ettore Prandini, and Confagricoltura Brescia Francesco Martinoni-. The agreement has already been signed by the vast majority of wineries in the production areas of Valtènesi as well as the Brescia coast of Lake Garda, including several important realities that will with this signature join the Consortium, and certainly sets the stage for the future development of our wine economy. ”

The project involves the overcoming of fragmentation uniting under the name of Riviera del Garda Classico DOC the current production for all types (white, red, Groppello, Chiaretto and sparkling Rosé): Valtènesi will represent the apex of quality for the Red and Chiaretto, and the historical wineries of the basin south of lake Garda will also be able to produce it in that, under the pact, the designation of the borders will be closed just where the territory of Lugana begins.

The announcement comes two months before the the ninth edition of Italia in Rosa, the most important event organized by the Consorzio Valtènesi, scheduled this year for June 10 to 12 at the Moniga Castle Park. The great national showcase of Chiaretto and italian rosé will expand the exhibition space in the new, picturesque location overlooking the lake opened last year in the name of a great success, in three days that will feature a wide selection of guided tastings as well as the presence of a hundred of the most representative wineries of the sector. There will also be a representative of French rosé wines.
