Farewell Civielle, welcome to La Pergola

The brand is new, but the company is historical: Cantine della Valtenesi e dela Lugana, also known by the acronym Civielle, the only wine cooperative of the Brescia Riviera del Garda, changes its name to Cantine La Pergola, in honor of the place’s name where the productive activity lies in Moniga del Garda, the city of Chiaretto. The change was decided earlier this year to refresh the image of the range, focusing on a more evocative name, and also more easily expendable in foreign markets. Civielle instead will continue to identify the structure of services provided by the cooperative to the local wineries.

The new name has already been made official on the labels of the new vintages, made after a study for the renewal of the brand lasted about a year and a half.

Founded in 1979, the cooperative is made up of 45 members, 30 of which confer grapes, and controls 80 hectares of vineyards, 90% of which are organic: the production reaches 300 thousand bottles (50% are already certified organic). The vast production is available for purchase also at enoteca Garda & Vino, which is located next to the winery obviously always in Moniga. The tip of the wines? Undoubtedly the Lugana, which represents a third of the total, although to stand out in the thousandth 2015 is undoubtedly the organic Chiaretto “Selène”: a very mature and strong rosé that combines freshness, measured acidity and an extremely nice roundness to a supported structure with a gradation from 13.5%.
