The news of the death of Gianni Prandini, a well-known politician, ex-minister and a prominent member of the Democrazia Cristiana party, has aroused great grief on Lake Garda. The sons Ettore and Giovanna are today at the top of the Perla del Garda farm in Lonato, one of the most important wineries in the local wine sector, known in particular for the production of Lugana as well as quality sparkling wines: a winery that has recently celebrated its first tenth anniversary of activity in the name of an ever-growing success, and that is not far from the farm where Prandini died at the age of 78. Ettore is today the leader of Coldiretti Brescia and Lombardy, as well as national vice president of the agricultural organization, while Giovanna, president of Pro Brixia, has led until a few months ago the Strada dei Vini e dei Sapori del Garda, in which she maintains a prominent role also today that Francesco Averoldi was elected as president of the association.

In Parliament from 1972 to 1994, Gianni Prandini had been Minister of the Mercantile Navy and Public Works, but had long since retired from active politics. The funeral is scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday, March 14, at 3.30 pm in the Basilica of San Giovanni Battista in Lonato del Garda.
