It’s time again for the now traditional appointment with “Il Groppello a spasso nella cucina bresciana” (you may translate as “Groppello takes a walk in the Brescia cuisine”: the tenth edition of the food and wine tour starts February 12 and goes on until March 27 in 18 restaurants on Lake Garda and beyond. This initiative is rather unique and well-established, and is conceived and organized by Attilio Pasini, oenologist and winemaker in Mocasina di Calvagese winery La Torre.
“This is primarily an opportunity to taste the more typical red wine of Valtènesi combined with the typical flavors of Brescian cuisine, but I personally believe this initiative is also a battle in defense of Mocasina, one of the two varieties of Groppello that are still cultivated on Garda – says Pasini – . This is a type that most of the producers of Valtènesi tip today to recover: it is characterized by a greater load of coloring substances, but also by its ability to give greater structure, harmony, more longevity and thickness. ”
“Mocasina” is also the special Groppello signed by La Torre (Garda Classico DOC) which will be combined with the menus prepared for the occasion by the restaurants of the circuit: Molin del Brolo, Celiento, Osteria No.1, Oste Sobrio, circle FBL in Brescia, Alessi in Desenzano, Running Club in Navazzo, La Betulla and La Collina del Fante in Serle, Chicco di Grano in Castelmella, Antica Cascina San Zago and Osteria del Tirabusù Salo, Osteria No. 11 in Torbole Casaglia, Ortica in Nuvolento, Riel in Sirmione, Trattoria da Bruna in Mocasina, La Pesa in Bedizzole, Cascina del Ritrovo in Lonato.
“All the restaurants – explains Pasini – will elaborate proposals specially conceived for combination with this wine, and they will offer it in specifc days and at set prices or even for throughout the period of the event. ” To see the menus, visit www.pasini-latorre.com site.
