Lake Garda jumps on the podium of the brand new guide “Gelaterie d”Italia 2017″ by Gambero Rosso, dedicated to the best ice cream shops in Italy: the first edition of the new publishing initiative, presented recently at the Sigep in Rimini, has given the award for Best Emerging Gelatiere to Carmela Grotta of the Ciocolat gelateria in Toscolano Maderno, which also won an evaluation of Two Cones (out of a maximum of three assigned). Gambero experts have no doubt: this small shop “is surprising for the quality of the proposal, with high quality raw material, controlled production steps and lively imagination.” The “cult” flavors proposed? Try L’Oro di Sicilia (raw almonds and stracciatella pistachio) or milk cream with mascarpone and honey ginger scent.

Benaco stands out in the Guide also thanks to another always very crowded ice cream shop as La Casa del Dolce in Salò, in Piazza Duomo, which has got One Cone through refined references such as Caramelized Figs with Ricotta and Uva Fragola. There’s also a reporting between the recommended addresses for Vassalli in Polpenazze.

For ths first edition of the guide, Gambero Rosso has selected less than 300 ice cream shops throughout Italy (out of a total of 37,000 ice cream parlors in the country): among them only 36 have reached the maximum award of Three Cones. “We know they are few- say the editors- but this is only the beginning: we want to especially stimulate debate and grow the sector by encouraging the culture of the true Italian ice cream”.
