The charm of an ancient medieval village, the sincere and authentic tastes of Valle del Chiese, the charm of a Christmas in the silence of a mountain landscape suspended outside of time: from Sunday 26 November there’s the return of the Cimego Christmas Markets , an end-of-year traditional Christmas event designed to involve for a month this Trentino town strategically positioned on the road to reach important skiing destinations such as Campiglio, just a few kilometers away from the waters of Lake Garda. Here, in Cimego, and precisely in the small little village of Quartinago. you can visit these markets that are quite different from the folklore of so many similar initiatives to give the visitor an experience of great authenticity. In this case, the takes place in the whole village, with the show of goods in ancient cellars, courtyards and barns remained exactly like once: here you can go into history and enter directly into the houses of the village to buy product closely related to the territory, like flours, cheeses, honey, jams, infusions, liqueurs, butter, salami, to objects of authentic local craftsmanship (sculptures, paintings, embroidery, knitwear, Christmas items …). There will also be moments of live performances and live music with groups of tradition, with the possibility of meeting even those witches who are always somewhat feared and that here, according to the legend, were at home ….
In the Pro Loco spaces and in the restaurants of the district in the days of the event, you will be able to complete your visit sitting at a table and tasting the specialties of the Valle del Chiese, starting from the polenta proposed in the Carbonera versions (with butter, cheeses, salami) or Macafana (butter, sponge and chicory).
Markets will be open throughout December (2, 3, 8, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23 and 26), from 9.30 to 6pm with the exception of the 2nd and 16th as there is an evening edition from 2 to 9 pm. To close in great style, on the days of December 26th and 27th there will also be the return of the magnificent living nativitiy in the nearby Bondone Castle, overlooking the lake of Idro, with a shuttle from Baitoni a few steps from Ponte Caffaro: 50 people dressed in cosumes will be involved from 2 to 6 pm on both days to revive the Nativity between glimpses of rare beauty, recollections of ancient crafts and tastings of typical products.
