La Meridiana winery in Puegnago del Garda has won the 45th edition of the “Palio del Groppello”: this is the verdict issued by the Brotherhood of Groppello chaired by Massimo Piergentili, which like every year met to evaluate the best label of the last vintage (in this case 2014) intended to accompany the convivial and institutional meetings of the association in the coming months. After the pre-selection made by the winemakers, the “brothers” have valued three finalists during a dinner with the traditional Spiedo at the Antica Cascina San Zago restaurant in Salò. The three wines were served in anonymous form and the tasting has seen the winner prevail for a handful of votes. It was precisely the Groppello 2014 by La Meridiana, a farm of eight hectares of vineyards and olive groves run by the Leali family.
