Harvest of the Doc grapes Groppello, Marzemino, Barbera and Sangiovese for the production of Chiaretto has begun in these last hours in Valtènesi: a ritual that Sunday, October 9, will be as always celebrated with “Profum di Mosto”, the traditional wine and food circuit in the wineries now in its 15th edition. The event this year will see the participation of 23 different wineries, divided into three picturesque routes on the Riviera del Garda Brescia from the hinterland to the coast. Each winery will propose as always a taste of their wines paired with dishes and typical products of Brescia tradition. The cost is set at 28 euro (includes 9 tasting coupons): information and booking online at www.profumidimosto.it.

In the meantime, the qualitative forecast for the thousandth 2016 are positive: the year is shaping up with production quantities grapes/hectare average of the last 10 years, but slightly down compared to 2015, as well as analytical data of very good grapes for the tenors and acidic pH. The grapes harvest for Chiaretto will be followed by the selection of grapes for red wines, only when the ripening reach a high intensity. New vineyards will lead to an increase in hectares and Doc grapes: the wineries are expecting around 52,000 tons of product for a total production of more than 4 million bottles at designation of origin.
