Lake Garda jumps on the podium of Viniplus: six wines have won the highest award of the “Golden Rose” in the eleventh edition of the guide to the wines of Lombardy made by the regional branch of AIS (Italian Sommelier Association). Over 1000 samples tasted for the realization of the book, presented by a total of 258 wineries: 159 have been awarded with Four Camune Roses, including 50 bottles of excellence which have also won the Golden Rose, a display of particular merit given not only to the wine but also to the production consistency of each winery.

On the Brescia Riviera, this particular priize has been conquered by the Valtenesi Chiaretto Molmenti 2012 by Costaripa (Moniga) and  by Lugana Vigne di Catullo Reserve 2013 by Tenuta Roveglia (Pozzolengo), but to my surprise even the small Doc of San Martino della Battaglia was able to get to the top thanks to the always magnificent Campo del Soglio 2015 by Selva Capuzza. Success also for three labels from the Mantova area: the Alto Mincio Red Montevolpe 2012 Bertagna (Cavriana), the Garda Merlot Carpino 2012 Ricchi and the Garda Merlot Faial 2013 Prendina (both from Monzambano).

Added to these are the numerous wineries that have won the Four Camune Rose: Avanzi from Manerba (Lugana Riserva Borghetta 2012), Borgo La Caccia in Pozzolengo (Garda Merlot Scudiero 2014), Citari in Desenzano (Benaco Bresciano Bianco Eretico 2015), Costaripa in Moniga (Mattia Vezzola Grande Annata Brut Rosè 2011), Pasini San Giovanni in Puegnago (Il Lugana 2015), Perla del Garda in Lonato (Lugana Superiore Madonna della Scoperta 2013), Pratello in Padenghe (Lugana Catulliano 2015), Selva Capuzza in San Martino (Lugana Selva 2015) e Tenuta Roveglia in Pozzolengo (Lugana Limne 2015).

Two more wines have been awarded in the Mantova area: the Garda Cabernet Sauvignon Falcone 2013 by Prendina (Monzambano) and Alto Mincio Cabernet Val di Pietra 2013 by Tenuta Maddalena (Volta Mantovana).
