It’s renewal time charges for the Valtènesi Consortium: the new board of directors, which emerged at the end of the members assembly gathered at Villa Galnica in Puegnago del Garda, is made by Giuseppe Avanzi, Francesco Averoldi, Sante Bonomo, Fabio Contato, Igino Dal Cero Luca Formentini, Giovanni Franzosi, Cristina Inganni, Antonio Lorenzi, Alessandro Luzzago, Paolo Pasini, Giacomo Tincani, Marco Turina, Mattia Vezzola, Lucia Zuliani. In the coming days the board of directors will meet to indicate the new president and vice-presidents.

In the course of his report, the outgoing president Alessandro Luzzago has formalized the entry into force of the new name Riviera del Garda Classico after the canonical 60 days of publication of the decree in the Official Journal: operational already from harvest 2017, the Doc will overcome the existing divisions in the viticulture of the Brescia side of lake Garda. The Garda Classico and Riviera del Garda Bresciano names will be substantially unified in a specification in which the Valtènesi designation will represent the top of the quality pyramid.

This is the result reached thanks to the territory pact launched earlier this year by the Consortium, which has joined the vast majority of producers including all the major companies in the Lugana area whose production extends to the wines of Valtènesi based on Groppello vine. The project provides for the renewal of the production rules, with expansion to the east of the present borders of the production area as well as changes in the ampelographic base.

“Unity and identity were the top priorities at the beginning of my term – said Luzzago during the meeting: with him director Carlo Alberto Panont -. The territorial pact and the new name was given to answer these needs: there are now conditions to set the bar higher and higher. All our resources and energies can be channeled in a single direction, with the expectation of getting much more meaningful results because we will have the opportunity to improve our public image simplifying communication “.

Luzzago traced the most important stages of his term, as the opening of the first consortium seat in 2013 to the engagement Erga Omnes in 2014, the increased presence of Valtènesi companies at Vinitaly to the ProWein debut. A particularly significant step was the assignment of the management in 2015 to Carlo Alberto Panont whose experience has been strategic to arrive at the signing of the agreement that led to the new disciplinary.
